Sharon Huie

Pastor

I grew up in a Christian home and attended an Alliance church in Hong Kong until our family immigrated to Canada during my teenage years. When God’s love touched me deeply during a Christian concert in Canada, it was the first time that I truly experienced God’s unconditional love. I realized that I was loved not because I was good or busy serving Him in different ministries, (for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23) but that God demonstrated His love towards me while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me (Romans 5:8). I felt the joyand freedom of knowing that I am loved by a God who accepts me exactly the way I am and not because of my performance!

During my college years, I sensed the call of God on my life and responded in obedience to His call and pastored a Chinese church in Canada for twelve years until I received another call from a Chinese church in Washington DC with the opportunity to pursue a Doctor in Ministry degree while pastoring. I continued to serve God pastoring in the church until my first child was born, when I stepped down from being a full-time pastor to take care of my family.  While I enjoyed the season of being a full-time mom, God used that time to continue to shape and refine me spiritually. My oldest daughter recently got married, just as several pastoral opportunities opened up.  I sensed that it was the right time for me to return to full-time ministry to serve my Lord and King. There is no greater joy for me than serving Him and loving His people! I am blessed to have my husband and children serving alongside of me, to love God’s people, to reach out to the unsaved and unchurched and to see the next generation raised up to know their identity in Christ and to love God wholeheartedly.  I am very grateful and excited to be the English pastor for GICF and look forward to working with you all to see God’s Kingdom extended in Gaithersburg!

Yuji Ogura

Assistant Pastor

My name is Yuji Ogura, and I was born and raised in Southern California for most of my life. At the age of 11, after being diagnosed with cancer for the second time, I came to faith in Jesus Christ. During that difficult season, I realized I didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus—I didn’t truly know Him, and He didn’t know me. In a moment of surrender, I turned to Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and a peace that surpasses all understanding washed over me. It was during that time that Psalm 27 became my favorite chapter in the Bible.

After high school, I pursued a Bible degree at Biola University and later earned my M.Div. from Talbot Seminary. Shortly after graduating, I served as the youth minister at Home of Christ Church in Cupertino for 13 years, where I gained most of my experience as a pastor. More recently, in 2023–2024, I volunteered for a year at His Mansion recovery ministries in NH, where I witnessed Christ’s transformative love change lives in the context of community.

I am excited to serve here in Gaithersburg, Maryland, as the Assistant Pastor for Family Ministries, and I look forward to seeing how God will transform all of us for His glory.
